Pump Wet End Overview
- Wet End Rotation - All pump wet ends can be installed onto pump motors in three positions, 12 O'clock, 3 O'clock or 9 O'clock easily so that they can attach to your spas plumbing unions.
- Side Discharge - This means the inlet (suction) and outlet (Discharge) are offset from one another. When you look directly at the face of the wet end you will see that the outlet is positioned off to one side in comparison to the inlet and not directly in-line.
- Fitment - Wet end is attached to the motor by four small 1/4" bolts. Sold separately. When fitted to a USA smooth body motor such as an Emerson motor the bolts run through the inside of the motor from the back to the front.

How do I know if my hot tub pump has a 48 Frame or 56 Frame Wet end?
Firstly dismantle your old hot tub pump by removing the four bolts that attach the wet end to the motor. At the rear of the motor, you will have the rear end of the motor shaft that runs all the way through the motor and threads onto the impeller inside the wet end. This shaft end will have a large flat slot for a screwdriver to go onto, simply get another screwdriver and trap the impeller inside the wet end and then unthread the motor shaft from the impeller. You will now have the wet end removed from the motor and you can work out if you have a 48 frame or 56 frame wet end.
48 Frame Wet Ends
There is only one type of 48 frame sized wet end and they will fit all 48 frame pump motors from EMG, Franklin Electric, US Motors, Century Laser, AO Smith and more. Measure diagonally the centres of two of the four bolt studs that attached the motor to the wet end, this measurement will be 130mm.
56 Frame Wet Ends - 6.3"
The modern 6.3" 56 frame motors will fit all modern day 56 frame pump motors. You will very rarely find a smooth bodied 56 frame USA motor fitted on spas in Europe so it will be more likely be an Italian EMG or EME motor associated with a Waterway pump or Aqua-flo Pump. Measure diagonally the centres of two of the four bolt holes that attached the motor to the wet end, this measurement will be 147mm.
56 Frame Wet Ends - 6.1"
These 56 frame 6.1" wet ends also known as (Euro Legs) are an old size now and the motors are no longer manufactured, you will need to replace your complete hot tub pump really if your motor is showing signs of age and wear. These wet ends are NOT measured diagonally, they are measured side to side and the centres of two bolt holes that attached the motor to the wet end are 102mm. The 6.1" XP2 wet ends can be easily identified as they have a part number of 92770715 stamped into one of the four support legs on the rear of the wet end.
LX Pump Wet Ends
LX pump wet ends will only fit LX pumps, for example, an LP300/WP300 wet end will only fit an LP300/WP300 LX Hot Tub pump.
